Biography

Currently I'm working as a post doc researcher in EDUCA Flagship (see more https://educaflagship.fi/en).

My research themes include, for example, teachers' occupational wellbeing, student engagement and the quality of teacher-student interaction. Especially I'm interested different types of associations between these - for instance ways on how teachers' occupational wellbeing or students' engagement could be enhanced by taking actions to improve the quality of teacher-student interaction.

Before my current position, I worked as post doctoral researcher in EduRESCUE project, which explored the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on schools, pupils, parents, teachers and principals (see more https://edurescue.fi/en). Thus, also ways on how the COVID-19 pandemic reflected on teahcers, students and parents is part of my expertice.

Alongside of my research work, I act as a supervisor of doctoral researchers and master students.

I defended my doctorate on education at the end of year 2020 in University of Jyväskylä. On the basis of the proposal of the Faculty of Education (UTU), University of Turku granted me the title of docent at the end of year 2025. My basic education is Master of Education with qualification to work as a classroom teacher and special education teacher.

Research interests

My research interests are topics related to teacher-student interaction, teachers' occupational well-being and students' engagement and well-being. In my current work I'm examining the possible relations between well-being and COVID-19 pandemic.
