Biography
I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER), University of Jyväskylä. I work in a project Tracing Knowledge: Universities and the Risk of Empty Education, funded by the Research Council of Finland. I also work at Tampere University, in a project UnMaking Knowledge - Students’ relationship with knowledge from Modernity to AI, funded by the Kone foundation. Currently, my research focuses on the nature of knowledge in higher education, how educational policy is reflected in education, and students’ relationship with knowledge. I completed my doctoral studies in educational sciences at the University Turku. In my doctoral research, I focused on sociocultural perspectives in higher education teaching and pedagogical development. I have previously worked in several educational research and development projects, funded, for instance, by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. My previous research has focused especially on learning and teaching in higher education. I have also worked as a senior evaluation advisor at The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC), gaining expertise in the evaluation of the Finnish education system, with a particular focus on the implementation of student guidance at different school levels. I have also led educational development projects in vocational education and training. I am particularly interested in the sociology of education and research on learning, teaching, and student guidance.
