Biography
I am Professor of Music Psychology at the Department of Music, Art and Culture Studies and the Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body and Brain, where I lead research on music and emotion. I have previously served as Head of Department and Director of Research at the Universities of Jyväskylä and Durham, and have led several research projects in Finland and the United Kingdom.
Research interests
My research seeks to understand how people perceive, experience, and respond to music, with a particular focus on music and emotions. I investigate these questions through theory development and empirical research, complemented by computational modelling and neuroscientific methods. My work is inherently multidisciplinary and collaborative, and I am committed to advancing transparent and reproducible research through open science.
