Biography
As a university lecturer in JYU open university in psychology, my work involves teaching, planning, and development. I teach research methods in basic psychology studies and the psychology of aging, or geropsychology, in subject studies. In gerontology, I am responsible for courses in psychogerontology. Psychological aging and, in particular, the experience of aging were also the subject of my doctoral thesis (2005). I am also involved in two projects that share the goal of developing the responsible use of artificial intelligence in online higher education based on research and evidence. The EU-funded ADMIT project (2024-2026) aims to support the pedagogical and ethical prerequisites for the responsible integration of large language models (LLMs) and generative artificial intelligence into higher education. The Open University's internal AITOO project (2005-2008) is developing AI-supported solutions that aim to support student learning, guidance, and the study experience in a more flexible and timely manner. The project designs and pilots pedagogical solutions that promote the personalization of studies and strengthen the support students receive throughout their study path.
