Project description

In this research project, we will implement a randomized controlled intervention for fifth-grade students, simultaneously examining the effects of the intervention on students’ physical activity levels, as well as on their physical, social, and mental health, and evaluating the effectiveness of implementation support strategies. We will also assess the cost-effectiveness of the intervention.

The project follows a whole-of-school approach framework, referring to comprehensive, school-day-integrated opportunities to increase physical activity and to support students’ physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing.

Our research advances science by developing a new, scalable, and replicable intervention programme. The project will deepen understanding of implementation processes in school-based research and contribute to the advancement of implementation science by supporting the development of new conceptual and theoretical models, measurement tools, and school-based interventions.
