My research focuses on Achilles tendon, neuromuscular function and physical activity with wide collaborative network. Group includes PhD students, post docs and collaborators from JYU, elsewhere in Finland and abroad.

Research group description

Achilles tendon research: Several PhD students work on this topic and have defended their thesis. Long term collaboration with Prof. Neil Cronin (JYU) and Lauri Stenroth (UEF) continues and new collaborators include Marko Matikainen from LUT. International collaboration includes Prof. Karin Silbernagel (University of Delaware) and Prof. Jazon Franz (University of North Carolina), and Huub Maas (Vrie Universitet Amsterdam).

Physical activity-related research group involves Timo Rantalainen (JYU) and Arto Pesola (XAMK).

Neuromuscular function-theme contains several smaller projects, often done with students. EXECP project includes PhD Students Pedro Valadao and Alfredo Ruiz, post doc Francesco Cenni (I-SENS project), Tiina Savikangas and collaborators Harri Piitulainen, Janne Avela and Tiina Parviainen.

I frequently host visitors and interns, but typically with their own funding.
