Planetary wellbeing – solutions for a sustainable future
A just and equitable green transition requires world-class multidisciplinary research and highly skilled experts. One of the faculty’s main areas of research, resource wisdom of natural resources, focuses on the bio- and circular economy. The goal is to promote discussion and increase awareness of the sustainable use of natural resources, the circular economy, and planetary wellbeing.
The Faculty of Mathematics and Science is part of JYU.Wisdom, the University of Jyväskylä’s multidisciplinary resource wisdom community, where planetary wellbeing is studied and promoted through research and collaboration. JYU.Wisdom brings together expertise from different disciplines to generate research-based knowledge on the conditions required for planetary wellbeing, provide multidisciplinary sustainability education, and develop evidence-based recommendations to support sustainability transitions.
From protecting biodiversity and understanding environmental change to advancing circular economy solutions, our research tackles some of the most pressing challenges of our time. Together, we are building knowledge for a more sustainable future.
