Publication fees (APC, BPC) may be paid from a central fund if either of the following conditions applies:
- The research is funded by the Research Council of Finland, the European Union, or another cOAlition S funder.
- The funding follows the full cost model.
In both cases, the following conditions must be met:
- The funding period began on or after 1 September 2021.
- For centralized payments, the key criterion is the project's start date. Publication fees may be covered from centralized funds even if the project has already ended.
- The publication is peer-reviewed.
- The corresponding author is affiliated with the University of Jyväskylä.
- The corresponding author agrees on the payment with the Open Science Centre before submitting the manuscript.
- Open access requirements must be fulfilled in accordance with the funder's policy.
- Please ensure that the publication channel you have chosen meets the criteria of your funder. You can use the Journal Checker Tool to determine whether your preferred journal complies with the funder's open access policy.
- The publication channel is fully open access.
- Publication fees for subscription-based (hybrid) journals and partially open access books are not covered.
This requirement applies to manuscripts submitted for review on or after 1 October 2026.
The University of Jyväskylä applies the full cost model, for example, to grants from the Research Council of Finland and to the majority of Business Finland grants.
