Researchvideo and MyJYU AI Transcription

Overview of Researchvideo features
Researchvideo environment and the MyJYU AI Transcription mobile app for processing audio and video data

Researchvideo is the University of Jyväskylä's storing and transcription service for video and audio recordings. It is also suitable for sensitive material. The service includes automatic transcription in Finnish, English, and several other languages.

The service works in conjunction with the audio recording feature in the MyJYU app (MyJYU AI Transcription). It enables secure recording and transfer of audio files to Researchvideo for transcription and storage. Alternatively, you can upload audio files and videos recorded with other tools directly to Researchvideo.

Researchvideo is available to research and teaching staff (including doctoral researchers) as well as students. However, the service may only be used for research and thesis work, not for other recordings.

Researchvideo and MyJYU AI Transcription can be used together or separately (see diagram above).

JYU Zoom

The University of Jyväskylä's Zoom service is a suitable tool for collecting both sensitive and non-sensitive data. It is a recommended interview recording tool, especially in situations where sensitive information, such as special personal data, may be recorded, even if it is not part of the research plan.

Using external transcription services

If an external service provider, such as a transcription company, is used to transcribe data containing personal data (including pseudonymous personal data), the responsible researcher must draw up a personal data processing agreement with the company. This agreement must be signed by the head of department.

Note: If the University of Jyväskylä acts as the data controller, the data contains special categories of personal data or otherwise sensitive or confidential information, and it is intended to use an external service provider,  the responsible researcher must contact the University's Information Security team department well in advance of drawing up the contracts.

Surveys

JYU's Webropol survey software

The University of Jyväskylä's Webropol survey software is suitable for collecting non-sensitive data. If the data contains special categories of personal data or is otherwise sensitive or confidential, it is possible to use Webropol when taking special additional measures to ensure data security.
