After graduating from JYU, Saira Umair is planning to work in social media, content creation, and brand communication. The Digital Marketing and Corporate Communication programme has prepared her to approach marketing challenges from multiple perspectives and to understand how to connect effectively with diverse audiences. Upon completing the programme, she has numerous career options, but she is confident that things will unfold as they should, and that it is not always necessary to have everything figured out in advance.

Opportunities often come in unexpected ways, guiding us towards things we never imagined. My path into the digital world wasn’t planned either; it developed gradually. Even before I started my degree at JYU, I was immersed in creating social media content and designing visuals. Along the way, I was lucky enough to assist on projects representing some of the top brands in Dubai, moments that gave me a real sense of scale, creativity, and a strategy that could truly engage people. 

Every experience did not just teach me new skills; it shaped my perspective I hold about this field today and provided a foundation for how I plan to grow and innovate in digital marketing.

Looking ahead, after graduating from JYU in Digital Marketing, I aim to excel in the same field, focusing on areas such as social media strategy, content creation, and brand communication. 

I know it can feel overwhelming to think about all the possible paths from digital brand management and content strategy to e-commerce marketing, digital consulting, and research roles. But you don’t have to figure it out right away. It could be as simple as experimenting with a mini campaign or even exploring influencer marketing. Or just go check out what makes posts go viral! 

Many of my classmates are also exploring their interest in areas like digital advertising and campaign management, and online sales, which shows how versatile this field is. 

The courses have enabled me to be a self-sufficient learner in terms of being creative and analytical at the same time, which is vital for comprehending both the art and science of successful marketing.

Some of the subjects that complemented my current studies included Brand Management, Finnish Life Skills certification, and Digital Market Communication. Taken as a whole, DMCC has prepared me to approach marketing challenges from multiple perspectives and understand how to connect effectively with diverse audiences. 

My goal is to combine AI and brand innovation with companies that value authenticity and creativity

Now, as the ways we communicate continue to evolve, I plan to explore how AI, now becoming the new normal, can be applied to improve the storytelling process and reach the audience. Integrating these tools into my work is one of the key directions I want to pursue, being relevant and innovative at the same time. 

Furthermore, I am particularly motivated to explore opportunities with Finnish or international brands where authenticity, creativity, and profitable interaction are valued, especially as they innovate in areas like immersive video content, AI-driven campaigns, social commerce, etc.  

Following the careers of JYU alumni who have succeeded internationally in marketing and communications motivates me to continue learning, remain adaptable, and strive for impact in the work I do. 

Equally important is a reminder that people around you, mentors, colleagues, and peers who believe in your potential make a HUGE DIFFERENCE! Take risks, discover your paths, and stay curious.
