The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences develops interdisciplinary provision both within the faculty and in collaboration with other faculties. We support student well-being and ensure equal opportunities for all to learn and develop their skills.

Studying humanities and social sciences helps us understand both individuals and communities, fostering empathy and critical thinking. These fields provide insights into human behaviour, culture, and societal structures, enabling us to address complex social issues and contribute to a more informed and compassionate society.

Master's Degree Programme in Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication

LAGIC is a two-year interdisciplinary course focusing on contemporary issues in applied language studies and intercultural communication in a globalizing world.

Master's Degree Programme in Music and Science

The Master's Degree Programme in Music and Science at the University of Jyväskylä aims to help students understand the various functions of music in modern everyday life by examining music through a cognitive, psychological and societal lens.

Master's Degree Programme in Development, Education and International Cooperation

The programme broadens and deepens students’ understanding of international development institutions, policies, and actors from a critical, reflexive and interdisciplinary perspective.
