How to change your password?
You can change your password through the Self-service by logging in with your university’s credentials or with your online banking credentials.
The change occurs immediately and affects all the University of Jyväskylä’s systems.
What is a good password?
- Don’t use your university’s username or password anywhere else
- Pick a password that is hard to guess, but can be memorized without the need to write it down
- Contains at least 14 characters
- Password can also be a phrase containing multiple words, preferably separated with a space
- You can use special characters, small and big letters, numbers and Nordic alphabets
- Do not use any dictionary word (either forwards or backwards)
Changing the password and using it
- It is recommended to change the password a couple of times a year (university’s systems do not force a change)
- Don’t use the same password anywhere else. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, change it as soon as possible
- Don’t give your credentials to anyone else, not even the system administrators. Administrators never ask for your password.
