The weekend consists of periods of quiet work as well as shared breaks during which you can exchange ideas and take a breather with other participants. Peer facilitators will take care of time management and practical arrangements.
The September thesis weekend will be held at the university library in room Väite (B248). Breakfast will be available on Saturday and Sunday in the Student Lounge. In addition, coffee and tea will be served throughout the weekend.
Participation requires pre-registration. The first 25 people to register will be admitted. The thesis weekend, including breakfast, is free of charge. All students of the University of Jyväskylä working on a bachelor’s thesis, master’s thesis, diploma thesis, or doctoral dissertation are welcome to attend, regardless of the stage of their work.

Friday September 18th
- 16:00 – Joint opening session and setting personal goals (Väite)
- Be prepared to briefly share:
- What is your thesis about and what stage are you currently at?
- What is your goal for the weekend? Think of something concrete that you can measure (e.g. number of pages written or articles read)
- Do you need help and support with something in particular?
- What kind of help and support can you offer for others?
- Be prepared to briefly share:
- 20:30 – First checkpoint
- Library closes at 21:00
Saturday September 19th
- From 9:30 –Breakfast served in the Student Lounge
- 10:15 – Work begins (in Väite)
- Lunch break at your convenience (bring your own or visit a student restaurant)
- 15:30 – second checkpoint
- Library closes at 16:00
Sunday September 20th
- From 11:30 – Breakfast served in the Student Lounge
- 12:15 – Work begins (in Väite)
- Lunch break at your convenience (note: campus restaurants closed on Sunday)
- 15:30 – Third checkpoint, event ends
- Library closes at 16:00
