Compilation and Assessment of Study Modules

When all courses within a study module have been completed, the student must request the compilation of the study module.

What is meant by the compilation of a study module?

The compilation of a study module indicates that the module has been completed. Once you have finished all the courses included in the study module (basic, intermediate, advanced studies, or a module), the module must be compiled. After the compilation, a record will appear on your transcript showing, in addition to the individual course completions, the scope, date of completion, and grade of the completed study module. You can request compilation only for a study module completed at the University of Jyväskylä. Study modules are described in the University of Jyväskylä curriculum.

Compilation is required, for example, for the awarding of a degree and for many application processes.

Principles for the evaluation of study modules

Study modules are graded using a numerical scale from 0 to 5, the verbal equivalent of this scale, or a pass/fail scale.

The grade is calculated as a weighted average of the numerical grades of the courses, using their ECTS credits as weights, and rounded to the nearest whole number. If the average is exactly halfway between two whole numbers, it is rounded up to the higher number. Course completions without a numerical grade are not included in the calculation of the module grade.

The content or grade of a study module cannot be changed after the degree to which the study module has been attached has been awarded.
