Faculties organize different examinations. You can find targeted instructions of examinations below.
General examinations
General examinations are exam events organized by the faculty. The exam is open for all students taking exams in the faculty's subjects. In a general examination, you can take exams based on literature, for instance. General examinations usually take place once a month.
You must register for the exam beforehand in Sisu (guide). Typically, the registration must be completed no later than one week before the examination. Note that registration for exams taking place during summer might end in May. At some faculties, a confirmation of the registration must be done a minimum of one week prior to the examination event.
In order to register for the examination, a degree student needs to be registered as an attending student for the semester during which the exam takes place. Exchange and visiting students should notice that examinations can only be taken during the time for which they have been accepted. After the exchange period has ended, i.e. after the end of December or May, it is no longer possible to take examinations.
Examination guidelines
- At the examination site, a proctor will call you by your name and give you the examination questions.
- You may look at the questions only when the proctors have given a permission to do so.
- Leave your bag and other belongings (including your mobile phone) beside the wall of the examination room.
- You are allowed to have a pen, pencil and an eraser in the examination. You are also allowed to have necessary medication and disposable foam earplugs if needed. If you are allowed to use a dictionary or a calculator, the examiners have informed the proctors of this. Use of them is not possible if the examiner has not separately given permission to do so. Use of mobile phones is not permitted.
- After all the students have been seated, the proctors give you permission to look at the questions. One of the proctors writes the earliest and the latest possible leaving times on the board.
- You are expected to be silent from the moment you enter the examination room to the moment you leave it. If you have questions, raise your hand and one of the proctors will help you. Students with disturbing behaviour will be removed from the examination room.
- In case of cheating, you will fail the examination and your home university will be notified. Note that speaking to other students is considered cheating during the examination.
- When you you are done, give the answers to the questions and the question paper to the proctors sitting in front of lecture hall. Be prepared to prove your identity. Keep your identity card or your passport with you for that.

General exams in Helsinki at Helao
The Faculty of IT offers the opportunity to take general exams in Helsinki at the premises of Helsingin aikuisopisto in Helsinki (Runeberginkatu 22–24, 00100 Helsinki). Information on exam times and registration for the exam can be found above. Registration for Helaos exam is always done through a separate registration form in addition to Sisu registration. Simply registering with Sisu or notifying the examiner is not enough to participate in Helaos exam.
In addition, it is important to note that registration for Helaos exam always ends before the actual exam registration in Sisu ends, because the exam package will leave for Helsinki before the exam date, as agreed with Helao.
Students will be informed about Helaos exam registration by e-mail and in connection with the listing of general exam dates. So please follow your email!

Liikuntatieteellisessä tiedekunnassa ei järjestetä säännöllisesti yleisiä tenttitilaisuuksia, vaan tentit suoritetaan kurssin vastuuopettajan antamien ohjeiden mukaan, useimmiten Exam-tentteinä tai kurssilla erikseen määriteltyinä ajankohtina. Tiedekunnan mahdollisesti järjestämistä yleisistä tenteistä tiedotetaan erikseen.
