How can I register for courses offered through different networks?

Detailed instructions for registering for courses offered by other higher education institutions can be found on this instruction page.

Important Information About Course Registration

After registering, add the courses completed through the network to your Personal Study Plan (PSP/HOPS) in Sisu.

Once you have registered for a course offered by another higher education institution, you will automatically receive an email from that institution in your student email account. The message will explain how to activate your user account at the host institution. To begin your network studies and access the host institution’s learning platforms, activate your user account according to the instructions provided by the host institution.

Are You a Student at Another Higher Education Institution and Want to Register for Courses Offered by JYU?

Students from other higher education institutions can register for courses offered through JYU’s educational cooperation networks. Read the instructions to learn what you need to consider when registering.

How Do I Complete Studies Offered by Other Higher Education Institutions?

Studies provided by other higher education institutions are completed in the learning environment of the host institution, such as the University of Helsinki Moodle environment.

In most cross-institutional study networks, completed studies are automatically transferred to the study register of your home institution, meaning you do not need to apply separately for credit transfer. In such cases, the course grade will appear directly on your Sisu transcript after completion.

However, if you have received a grade for a course and the grade appears on the host institution’s transcript but has not been transferred to the University of Jyväskylä study register, apply for recognition of prior learning in Sisu.

Validity Period of Cross-Institutional Study Rights

The validity period of cross-institutional study rights varies by network. Study rights are granted for individual courses, and most of them remain valid for one academic year.

Your right to complete network studies at the host institution will expire no later than the end of your degree study right at the University of Jyväskylä.

Cross-institutional studies cannot be completed under an alumni study right, an exchange study right or an Open University study right.
