Our research on language learning and interaction investigates language and communication as meaning-making activity that draws on multiple linguistic and other semiotic resources. Topics include the processes and practices of language learning, teaching and assessment, communication competence, as well as learners’ experiences at different ages and in different settings, such as in
worklife.
Studies draw from theories and methods appropriate for exploring linguistic, social, sociocognitive and interactional activities and actors. Our research contributes to theoretical and societal discussions on language learning and communication competence as well as to the development of new pedagogical practices promoting language awareness and multilingualism.
