By taking part, you gain valuable insights into your own lifestyles and support local academic research on health and wellbeing.

Why is this research important?

Central Finland closely reflects the population structure, lifestyles, and disease patterns of Finland as a whole, making it an excellent setting for this research. The region combines a strong culture of physical activity with growing inequalities in health, including rising rates of obesity, musculoskeletal disorders, and challenges in mental wellbeing.

This study brings together biobank samples with comprehensive data on lifestyle and environment. It aims to identify new ways to prevent disease and promote health and wellbeing.

What will you gain as a participant?

By participating, you will:

  • receive personalised feedback on your lifestyles

  • see how your habits compare with national recommendations

  • support research that helps improve health promotion and disease prevention

The study aims to include participants of all ages from Central Finland. It is especially important to recruit young adults. University staff and students are also welcome to participate.

How to participate

  1. Give your biobank consent at www.hyvaks.fi/biopankki

  2. Provide a blood sample at Fimlab. The blood sample can be taken at the Fimlab sampling point at Central Finland Central Hospital Nova the earliest two working days after giving consent. The sample can also be taken in connection with other clinical sampling at any Fimlab service point.

  3. Complete the questionnaire you will receive later. You will receive feedback on your lifestyle as a part of the survey
