JYU.Well summerteam introduction!
This summer the JYU.Well summer team consists of nine trainees from five different faculties (MathSci, JSBE, EduPsy, HumSoc and SportHealth). We are really exited to contribute to different citizen science and wellbeing projects!

Juho Luoma
What is your educational background?
I’m currently a business student, more precisely a master’s student majoring in marketing. I’ve also previously studied architecture. In my studies, I’ve been most interested in human behavior in relation to the environment and other people, whether the individual in question is examined as a consumer or an occupant.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I listen to music on a daily basis, and usually find myself in a better mood afterwards
Tell us a funny fact about yourself
I’m not the biggest fan of going to a hot sauna or swimming in cold water.
Veera Eloranta
What is your educational background?
I am a master’s student in political science, and I am one credit away from completing my degree. I have a broad interest in topics related to society and people, which has led me to take basic studies in social policy and human resource management as minors.
What is your daily wellness habit?
As a daily wellness habit, I would say that on weekdays I start and end my day without social media. At evening, I stop using it 30 minutes to 2 hours earlier each day. It makes it easier to stay focused throughout the day and improves the quality of my sleep. I highly recommend it!

I eat ice cream no matter what time of year it is; neither rain nor freezing temperatures bother me.
Saaga Auvinen
What is your educational background?
I am currently pursuing two Master's degrees here at the University of Jyväskylä: Health Sciences in the Physiotherapy program, and Business in the Responsible Management and Business of Sport (RESPO) program. My background is in physiotherapy, and before coming to university, I studied equine massage, among other things.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I try to give myself something new to learn every day, whether it's Duolingo, a new recipe, or a sports-related skill.
Tell us a funny fact about yourself
I don't like potatoes at all, I mean just regular, boiled potatoes, whether they are new or old. French fries or mashed potatoes are totally fine, though!
Vilma Luomi
What is your educational background?
I have recently graduated from the Master’s program of Cell and Molecular biology from the University of Jyväskylä. I also included basic and intermediate studies of chemistry and basic studies of education to my degree. I am particularly interested in research focused on wellbeing, including lifestyle factors behind diseases and how society influences individual health.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I always try to reserve plenty of time for my mornings before the day begins, so I can enjoy my coffee without rushing and prepare myself for the demands of the day.

I consider myself as a ”savolainen”, even though I have never lived there.
Vy Tran
What is your educational background?
I got Master’s degree in Educational Sciences (EDUMA, JYU), and recently have been admitted to becoming a doctoral researcher in Educational Sciences at JYU. I’m engrossed in how learning environments, such as music, affect language learning.
What is your daily wellness habit?
As a music lover, I’m fond of singing and playing musical instruments, like playing the guitar. I also read research about music and language learning. Moreover, I also train Calisthenics.

Watching “Captain America: The First Avenger” of Marvel has made me dream of living in the past.
Veera Kainulainen
What is your educational background?
I am studying in the Master’s program in Education and Adult Education at the University of Jyväskylä. As part of my optional studies, I have done basic studies in social sciences, family studies, youth studies, and communication. I’m particularly interested in social phenomena and people’s well-being at different stages of life.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I try to get out into nature and exercise every day. I also always read a book before going to sleep instead of scrolling on my phone.
Tell us a funny fact about yourself
I love all products that taste like watermelon essence. I especially like watermelon-flavored drinks and candies.
Essi Pesola
What is your educational background?
I will soon graduate as a Master of Health Sciences. My major is Gerontology and Public Health, and my minor is Health Economics. I am particularly interested in the effects of the environment on population health. I have also previously worked as a physiotherapist.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I enjoy listening to podcasts, drinking lots of coffee and going to the gym.

I’m a twin (not according to zodiac sign).
Eveliina Perttuli
What is your educational background?
I am a master’s student in art history, and my studies are nearing completion. I have also taken basic studies in history and museology. My interests are from regional artists to contemporary cultural phenomena. I am also very enthusiastic about various themes in cultural history. I enjoy examining both local and current phenomena from a historical perspective.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I try to read books every day! I make a cup of tea and relax with a book. Magical realism has really captivated me lately.

I enthusiastically collect stones.
Emma Kähkönen
What is your educational background?
I am a Master's student in Music & Science and I am interested in various phenomena related to music, society, people and wellbeing. I am particularly interested in music, sport and wellbeing, as well as music and emotions.
What is your daily wellness habit?
I choose the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible.
