Let's make the University Library less noisy!

The ground floors of the Lähde building are intended for quiet work, and loud conversations should be avoided. For group work, we recommend group work rooms and sofa booths. Completely quiet spaces can be found in the Lähde reading rooms and the Aalto Library in the University Main Building.

The University Library has received customer feedback requesting different zones in the Lähde building, divided according to sound intensity.

We have now divided the premises so that quieter voices are encouraged on the ground floors of the building. Talking is still allowed, but let's keep the lower floors as quiet as possible and avoid noise. For group work, we recommend group work rooms and sofa booths.

  • Completely quiet spaces are available in the quiet reading rooms, which are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
  • You can also find quiet reading areas on the lower ground floor in the room BP15 and on the upper ground floor in the Fennica reading room (BYP15.2.-17.2.).
  • All quiet rooms are located on the right side of the building when entering through the main door.

Aalto Library, located in the University Main Building, is also a quiet workspace.
