Master's theses will be submitted through the Vasara-system in all faculties within the University of Jyväskylä starting from October 6, 2025. The process will be newly introduced in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Education and Psychology, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Science. It has already been in use in the Faculty of Information Technology, the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences, and the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. The original implementation schedule has been postponed by one week.

In the process, the student submits their thesis for evaluation and receives the evaluation statement from the thesis examiners. At the end of the process, the thesis is archived in the JYX publication repository. In Vasara, the thesis supervisor can propose an examiner for the thesis, the examiners provide an evaluation statement, and the decision-maker appoints the examiner and determines the final grade for the thesis.

As part of the implementation, the existing process will be updated to the latest version across all faculties. Based on user feedback, the user experience has been improved. Feedback on the process is also welcomed in the future.

The process is managed by the Degree Education Services team (TOP-tiimi) within Student Services, which provides guidance and support for questions related to the thesis submission process in Vasara.
