Moniviestin is an online video publishing platform developed at the University of Jyväskylä. In August 2025, a completely revamped version of Moniviestin was launched alongside the old version. This dual operation is temporary, and the old Moniviestin will be shut down on 1 September 2026.

From Tuesday 1 September 2026, only the new Moniviestin will be in use

During the day:

  • The new Moniviestin will function normally throughout
  • Public access to the old Moniviestin will cease and all Moniviestin traffic will be redirected to the new version
  • Any videos and audio recordings that have not been migrated will cease to function
  • (The old Moniviestin will be temporarily made available internally at a separate address until 31 December 2026 to allow for any necessary additional transfers. Requires extra work and possible delays in transfers)

Teachers, Researchers and staff members – please mark your videos for transfer!

There are currently still around 50,000 videosin the old Moniviestin. Not everything will be transferred to the new system by default; the transfer will be carried out based on the content creators’ markings.

The actual transfer of content takes place automatically. The transfer takes approximately one day. You will be notified by email when the transfer is complete, and you will be instructed to check that the transfer has been successful.

Finally, the transferred content will be automatically deleted from the old Moniviesti.

Marking content for transfer is done on a programme-by-programme basis.

Instructions for marking content for transfer.

PLEASE NOTE! If you forgot to mark your content for transfer before 1 September 2026, please contact the Digital Services video support team via the HelpJYU form if necessary.

Students – please report any issues you encounter!

It is possible that, despite the transition period of over a year, some videos may not have been transferred. Even though the old Moniviestin will be closed to public use, content providers can still initiate transfers.

If you notice that a video is missing, please report it:

  • To your lecturer, if it is a video or audio recording for a course you are studying
  • Via the HelpJYU form, if it is a general information or marketing video.

Thank you in advance!
