The University of Jyväskylä performed well in the 2026 CWUR university rankings

The University of Jyväskylä was ranked 657 in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), which compares nearly 21,300 degree-awarding universities. This means that JYU is among the best 3 per cent.

Of the compared universities, the best 2,000 were given a detailed position that is based on indicators measuring the quality of education, teaching and research. Last year JYU’s position was 632.

Of Finnish universities in the ranking, JYU was the seventh. Among European universities, JYU was ranked 254. CWUR measures, for example, the quality of teaching, employment of alumni, publications, impact and patents. The top positions of the ranking were given to Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford.

The CWUR ranking has been published by a Saudi Arabian consulting organisation from 2012.
