Biography
I am a senior lecturer of communication at the University of Jyväskylä, Department of Language and Communication Studies. My main responsibilities include teaching, thesis supervision, research and administrative tasks related to the bachelor's and master's degree programmes of communication at JYU. I have experience in teaching from basic studies to advanced studies, and about various themes, such as organizational communication, technology-mediated communication, artificial intelligence, communication competence, and team communication. I supervise master's theses and act as the secondary supervisor for PhD dissertations.
Since 2022, I have served as the chair/president of the Finnish Association of Communication and Social Interaction, Prologos ry. I am also a member of the Council of Ethics for Communication (VEN).
Research interests
My research focuses on the meaning of digital technologies in (workplace) communication and social interaction. I specialize in studying AI and social bots, communication technology in organizations, platformed organizing, and teamwork.
I act as co-PI and leader of the JYU project in the Research Council of Finland funded research consortium Generative Technologies in Communicative Organizing (GET:ORG). I am also a part of the research project SODA: Fluid Organizing on Digital Platforms (U of Helsinki) and a member of the CoCoDigi research group.
My work has been published in various national and international journals, such as Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Human-Machine Communication, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, Information Technology & People, Media & Viestintä, Prologi, Workplace Communication (Routledge).
