Tuisku Takala helps students understand how organizations work and how to lead them responsibly. She teaches management and organizations to business students, to non-business students across the LITO university network, and to international master's students in sport management. She works as a University Teacher in management and as Pedagogical Director at JSBE, University of Jyväskylä.
Her areas of expertise are management and leadership, responsible management, business ethics, and thesis supervision.
At JSBE she teaches Responsible Expert I, where first-year students make a personal study plan and an internationalization plan, and learn to see responsibility as part of their expertise. In the management thesis seminar, third-year students plan, carry out and report their own small research project. For non-business students in the LITO network, she teaches Basics of Management and Organizations, a mostly online course where students learn core ideas in leadership, HR and strategy, and practice applying them to real management situations. In the international RESPO master's programme, she is the responsible teacher of the Internship course and guides students through a project in a sport-sector organization. In Professional Development and Expertise, RESPO students assess and present their own expertise.
As Pedagogical Director, Takala has worked on faculty-level development of teaching and learning since 2025. Her work focuses on clear and consistent practices in teaching, thesis supervision and assessment, and on guiding students throughout their studies. She is also involved in JSBE's AACSB quality assurance work. In addition, she is a member of the project group for OpiskeluPLUS, a project funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The RESPO programme's partners include the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Olympic Committee and the Football Association of Finland. Takala is a board member of EBEN Finland (2026-2028) and Assistant Editor of its journal Yritysetiikka. She is also a co-organizer of the EGOS Feminist Network (2026-2030) and coordinates the qualitative researchers' network at JYU. She has given public video talks on business studies, on starting Open University studies at Researchers' Night, and on the RESPO programme at Applicant's Day.
What happens to a care movement when its work becomes part of the public care system? Takala studies this question in Finnish end-of-life care. In her doctoral research, she focuses on social movement organizations, the ethics of care, caring and vulnerability in the context of organizing end-of-life care.
