Biography
I started as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cost-Effectiveness Research at the JYU.Well unit of the University of Jyväskylä on September 7, 2026.
I obtained my PhD in Health Economics from the University of Eastern Finland in 2022. My doctoral dissertation, Economic Aspects of Physical Activity Promotion, explored physical activity promotion from a health economics perspective, with a particular focus on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions.
My educational background includes a Master's degree in Health Economics and qualification as a Physiotherapist. In addition, I hold a professional teacher qualification.
Before joining the University of Jyväskylä, I worked at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, where I held a fixed-term position focusing on implementation activities, evaluation and recommendation processes, government grant administration, and the organization of the National Effectiveness Seminar.
Prior to my work at the Ministry, I spent more than three years as an Analyst at the South Savo Wellbeing Services County. My responsibilities included serving as the main administrator of the customer feedback system, overseeing its procurement and implementation, and contributing to various data-driven management initiatives. These projects included baseline assessments of the wellbeing services county and the development and monitoring of nursing management indicators, such as patient falls and pressure ulcers.
I have also been involved in research and teaching in health economics and economic evaluation at the Department of Health and Social Management at the University of Eastern Finland. Earlier in my career, I worked at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences in Pieksämäki, conducting research and development projects on topics such as social exclusion, the social economy, and virtual reality applications.
In addition to evaluating physical activity interventions, I have participated in several research groups and projects assessing the costs, outcomes, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of interventions across different population groups. Examples include studies on the economic consequences of dementia progression and evaluations of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions targeting behavioral disorders in children.
At the University of Jyväskylä, I aim to strengthen expertise in the evaluation of outcomes, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness across multiple domains of wellbeing, including health, physical activity, rehabilitation, and social services.
