Project description

First, a qualitative exploration will be examining the concepts of adaptation and integration of international university students and university staff at the University of Jyväskylä. In the Spring of 2025 we conducted focus group discussions and circulated an online questionnaire collecting their opinion on different themes such as: their experience in Finland, Well-being, Challenges, Opportunities, Social belonging and integration, Discrimination and racism and Recommendations. Based on the findings, the protocol of a transdiagnostic brief intervention will be adapted to better adress the issues that emerged from the discussion. The aim is to teach general flexibility skills to improve wellbeing and stress management, thus preventing more severe mental distress.
