Mission
Our mission is to:
- Develop new methods in computational data analysis and imaging that are both powerful and resource-efficient.
- Open new application areas through interdisciplinary projects piloting novel sensors and technologies to real scenarios.
- Bridge emerging technologies and application domains by creating solutions that work across different sensors, devices, and data sources.
- Educate and inspire the next generation of researchers and professionals by integrating research-driven teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong analytical foundations.
- Collaborate with society and industry to ensure our research has real-world impact—from medical diagnostics and climate resilience to technological innovation.
Impact
CoDAI will strengthen the university’s research excellence, create new educational opportunities, and contribute to solving global challenges by combining computational science, machine learning, and imaging technologies into one coherent effort.
HSILab and CoDAI research group currently receives a large number of applications and inquiries for PhD and postdoctoral positions, often 5–10 per day. Many of these messages appear to be broadly generated and have only a limited connection to our actual research activities. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to review or respond individually to applications or inquiries submitted outside open recruitment calls.
If you are interested in joining HSILab, please first check the open positions announced through the University of Jyväskylä recruitment pages. When we are recruiting for a funded PhD, postdoctoral, or other paid research position, we most likely publish an official call.
If no relevant position is currently advertised, this generally means that we are not recruiting for a paid position at that time.
