Overview
Research group description
The Research and Teaching Unit on Education, Guidance, and Life Courses explores the intersections between education, guidance, and individuals’ life trajectories. Its work investigates how people envision their futures and construct meaningful life paths within changing social, cultural, and ecological contexts.
Key research themes include:
- Future Envisions and Worldviews: How young people imagine and navigate uncertain futures.
- Relationality in Education and Guidance: The social, emotional, and ethical relationships that shape learning and guidance processes.
- Human and Non-Human Entanglements: Exploring posthuman and ecological perspectives in guidance and education.
- Guidance and Life Design: The development of subjectivities, attachments, and well-being through guidance practices.
- Youth, Subjectivity, and Well-being: Understanding how young people form identities and attachments in complex social worlds.
- Ethnography and Participatory Methods: Engaging with learners and practitioners through qualitative, collaborative research approaches.
- Politics and Sociology of Guidance and Education: Examining education policies, institutional practices, and questions of social justice in guidance and schooling.
The unit brings together researchers from education, sociology, and guidance studies to understand how educational and guidance practices shape life courses in diverse contexts and contribute to more equitable futures.
The Unit holds Doctoral Research Seminar.
