The University Management Team and the extended University Management Team
The University Management Team comprises the rector, vice rectors, finance and service director as well as the faculty deans. The development director serves as the team’s secretary. The Management Team members have no deputies.
According to the University of Jyväskylä Regulations, the rector appoints the Management Team for their support. The University Management Team and Extended Management Team are tasked with the following:
- support the University’s strategic and operational management, and especially the rector in fulfilling responsibilities under the Universities Act and the University of Jyväskylä Regulations
- promote dialogue, communication, and collaboration, as well as coordination between the Rectorate and other JYU units, and
- support the University’s strategic planning and its implementation.
The University Management Team and Extended Management Team also address other important issues pertaining to the University’s operations, such as major HR policies and issues related to operational control, higher education and science policies, and financial performance.
The University Management Team meets regularly in an expanded form, which includes the University Management Team plus the directors of the independent institutes and the division directors of University Services.
