Concept workshop: Ability to Work
Welcome to discuss and ponder together the "ability to work" definitions together with other researchers in an interdisciplinary setting!
You may hear new perspectives from various scientific fields that could also help you with your own research! The workshop is organized jointly with The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and Finnish Institute of Occupational Health
In the beginning, we will hear commentaries from researchers about the concept. They come from different scientific fields and will inspire the discussion among the participants. Commentaries will be heard from:
- Working life professor, Minna Kivipelto (Social work, HumSoc, THL)
- Senior lecturer, Tuulikki Sjögren (Health Sciences, SportHealth)
- Working life professor, Salla Toppinen-Tanner (Psychology, EduPsy)
If you wish, you can prepare by thinking beforehand:
• how "ability to work" is defined and how is research about it conducted in your own or in your scientific field?
• how "ability to work" can be measured -> are there any established indicators to it?
• do you know articles about "ability to work" that you could also recommend to others?
• is the term ability to work / työkyky similarly in Finnish and English languages? Are there any synonyms to it?
If the theme is interesting to you but you can not attend, you can also send your thoughts and perspectives to the organizers beforehand by email.
