The call for abstracts opens on 17 August 2026!
Presentation Types
ICMPC - ESCOM 2027 will include a variety of presentation formats. We welcome submissions in the following categories:
- Oral Presentations
Authors may submit abstracts for oral presentations on completed research with clear results and conclusions.
- Poster Presentations (with optional Speed Talks)
Authors may also submit abstracts for poster presentation sessions. Authors may opt to give a 1 minute speed talk before their scheduled poster sessions to showcase their research to conference participants in a joint session.
- Symposia
Symposia will consist of multiple spoken papers on a specific topic, coordinated by a Chair. Symposia typically last 90 minutes and include 3-4 presentations with a shared discussion.
- Workshops and Demonstrations
Workshops and demonstrations offer opportunities for hands-on engagement, showcasing new methods, technologies, or prototypes. Sessions may last 60-90 minutes and should include practical demonstrations and interactive discussions with 2 to 3 speakers (including the Chair). Only proposals for in-person workshops and demonstrations will be considered.
All presentations and publications will be in English. Oral and poster presentation slots are available for both in-person and online participants.
Presentation guidelines will follow upon notification of abstract acceptances.
Submission Guidelines
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for research within the conference theme of “Music, mind, body and brain” using the online submission system (coming soon). We encourage submissions across various perspectives and paradigms, broadly addressing the field of music cognition research. All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and selected on the basis of merit, interest to the research community, and relevance to the overall focus of the conference. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to decide on the presentation type and suitable session for the presentation. If appropriate, the Scientific Committee may also ask contributors to combine proposals to allow wider representation of the ICMPC - ESCOM 2027 community.
As part of the submission, the following information will also be requested:
- Title
- Anticipated presentation type
- Authorship/presenter(s) information (name, e-mail, institution, country)
- Topic area
- Anticipated attendance mode (in-person or online)
Each individual is allowed to submit one proposal as first author for each presentation type (i.e., Oral Presentation, Poster Presentation, Symposia, Workshop). Symposia Chairs can only have one other first-authored proposal in another presentation category.
