Our six faculties offer 18 international master's programmes, all taught in English. You can deepen your knowledge in education, sports and health sciences, natural sciences, information technology, business, and humanities and social sciences. The studies for the two-year, 120 ECTS master's programmes start in August-September 2025. The programmes are conducted as on-campus studies.

There are a total of 413 study places available in the master's programmes. In recent years, the most popular programmes have been those in the Faculty of Information Technology and the School of Business and Economics (JSBE).

In addition to the master's programmes, JYU’s first international bachelor's programme, Business Innovation and Sustainability (180 ECTS), is now available. It includes studies related to new business development, business responsibility, decision-making, and sustainability expertise. There are 30 study places, of which 12 are reserved for first-time applicants. Applicants accepted into the bachelor's programme will also receive the right to pursue a master's degree in one of the four English-taught master’s programmes at JSBE.

Scholarships available for students liable to pay tuition fees

Every year, over 1,000 international students study at the University of Jyväskylä, with about half enrolled in English-taught degree programmes and the rest in doctoral programmes or as exchange students. Degree students who are not citizens of EU/EEA countries or Switzerland must pay a tuition fee for their studies.

The University of Jyväskylä offers students liable to pay tuition fees the opportunity to apply for a scholarship covering 50% of the tuition fee using the same electronic application form used to apply for study rights on Studyinfo.fi. The JYU Scholarship is automatically awarded to all eligible admitted applicants who applied for it.

Check the admission criteria and guidelines before applying

To apply to our international degree programmes, you must have an appropriate educational background, depending on whether you are applying to bachelor's or master's programmes, and proved, sufficient English language skills. Any other possible requirements are specified in the programme-specific admission criteria.

You can access the programme-specific admission criteria and application instructions through the “How and when to apply” section on each programme's page.
