Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects 2025: Eight JYU disciplines among the best in the world
JYU’s research in Information Systems Science was ranked in the 76–100 range in the category of Library & Information Science in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. Mathematics at JYU was also ranked in the 76-100 range, which was the highest ranking among Finnish universities.

Altogether, eight branches of science from JYU were included in the global top 500.
Education and communication were ranked between 101 and 150, psychology between 201 and 300, and ecology, physics and business administration between 301 and 400.
More than 2,000 out of 5,000 universities across 92 countries and regions are listed in the ranking. The ranking takes into account, for example, the quality of research, international cooperation, publications in top journals, and significant academic awards.
