Structure of studies (study plan)

On the Structure of studies tab, you can choose whether to use the new or the current tool. Please note that some functions will initially be missing from the new tool, so it is recommended to continue using the old one if possible. However, you can try out the new view and switch back without losing the contents of your plan. In the new study structure:

  • The selection assistant is moved from the sidebar to the three-dot menu and opens in a pop-up window, making it accessible for screen readers and keyboard navigation.
  • Making selections: In the new selection assistant, you can select your studies using checkboxes and radio buttons. Checkboxes allow multiple selections at once, while radio buttons permit only one choice within a group. These options are more accessible compared to the old pill buttons.
  • Free edit mode is still available inside the selection assistant behind the three-dot menu but opens in its own pop-up window.

Instructions will be updated as functionalities develop further.

Students can give feedback regarding the functionality directly from within Sisu through a Funilab questionnaire. Feedback and possible bug reports from staff can be reported through the HelpJYU Sisu/KOVS-technical support request with the topic Sisu/Accessibility.

Timeline

The timeline tool will be completely renewed at the end of 2025, and the current view will be discontinued. With the timeline tool, studies included in the study plan are planned and placed into teaching periods. You can still use the timing templates provided by your degree program if available.

  • Visual timeline: The previous visual and functional timeline did not meet accessibility requirements. For now, the new view does not include a visual element, but an accessible alternative is being planned for the new view.
  • Placing a course to the timeline takes place in period-specific pop-up windows using checkboxes that allow multiple selections at once.

Instructions will be updated during late 2025 and early 2026.

Students can give feedback regarding the functionality directly from within Sisu through a Funilab questionnaire. Feedback and possible bug reports from staff can be reported through the HelpJYU Sisu/KOVS-technical support request with the topic Sisu/Accessibility.
