Adapted Physical Activity
The Adapted Physical Activity research group takes a multidisciplinary approach to examining physical activity, functional capacity and overall well-being in people with various functional difficulties, long-term conditions or special needs at different stages of life. The research focuses on, among other things, motor development, physical functional capacity, participation and equity, the prerequisites for physical activity and learning, and the psychosocial and cognitive factors related to physical activity.

Research group description
The Adapted Physical Activity Research Group is interested in physical, mental and social well-being in people with various functional difficulties or special needs. The research group is led by Mikko Huhtiniemi, Assistant Professor of Sport Pedagogy and Adapted Physical Activity. The group includes several doctoral researchers, postdoctoral researchers and senior researchers. In addition, the group collaborates closely with several national and international research groups.
