FemInnovation - Female physiology, sports, and innovations

Our research group focuses on the physiology of female athletes (recreational and elite). We investigate how endogenous and exogenous sex hormones (menstrual cycle, hormonal contraceptive use, ovulatory disturbances) influence performance and training adaptations and the effects of low energy availability and multistress environments on menstrual health. Additional projects involve themes including: environmental physiology, pregnancy/motherhood, sports/wellness technology, and coaching (the female athlete and as a female). Our goal is to generate knowledge that can be utilized to promote performance, health, and well-being of female athletes and coaches across the lifespan.

From science to practice. From practice to results.
