The Faculty of Mathematics and Science was founded in 1965 and is one of the flagships of the University of Jyväskylä. The faculty conducts high-quality, high-impact basic research. The main celebration will take place on 6 November 2025.
At its meeting on 3 November 2025, the Jyväskylä City Council decided to sell the majority share of Jamk University of Applied Sciences to the University of Jyväskylä, in accordance with the University’s earlier purchase offer.
Markus Kortelainen is new Professor of Theoretical Nuclear Structure Physics. In theoretical nuclear physics, researchers aim to understand the structure and reactions of atomic nuclei, as well as the fundamental interactions that govern them.
