During your studies, you gain valuable working‑life skills, and through EduJyväskylä’s entrepreneurship studies or MOVI’s working‑life studies, you learn to identify and articulate these skills—and to turn your ideas into concrete plans.
Yritystehdas coaches emerging teams and companies, and also provides guidance in exploring different funding opportunities. For example, product development funding can support activities such as building a prototype or conducting IPR investigations. The Research and Innovation Services unit helps with various early‑stage funding opportunities.
Unifund Ltd can invest capital in the most promising startup companies. Intellectual property arising from university research and owned by the university—such as patents, software, and datasets—can also be invested into a company through Unifund. We also educate our students in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking.

We support our researchers in the commercialization of research results and encourage collaboration with companies. Staff are also offered guidance in establishing a company, as well as in matters related to innovation, intellectual property rights, and commercialization.
Research and Innovation Services (TIP/RIS) provides assistance to JYU researchers in questions related to applying for research funding and helps companies, work communities, and researchers find common interests.
