JSBE has been rated highly for responsibility - feedback from students supports the ongoing development of education

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) has received an excellent score this year in an international indicator of positive impact. The Positive Impact Rating (PIR) is an assessment by students of how well their own business school implements sustainability in its activities. Rather than ranking what is best in the world, the rating ranks universities based on what is best for the world.

JSBE participated in the Positive Impact Rating for the fifth time. Our students rated our responsibility stronger than in previous years, achieving a rating of 4 out of 5.

The students gave the highest ratings to the strong role of sustainability in JSBE’s vision and strategy, as well as to our genuine commitment to advancing sustainability transformation. Dean Hanna-Leena Pesonen is very grateful for the feedback from the students.

“After all, they are our most important stakeholder group!” highlights Pesonen. “The feedback our students give about JSBE’s impact and responsibility work is extremely important. This was the fifth time we participated in the PIR Rating, and each time the results have taught us something new about how to improve our education. As usual, we will carefully review the feedback.”

In the PIR evaluation, students assess the effectiveness of their higher education institution from various perspectives, such as education and engagement. Through their rating, students give their recommendations to other students interested in responsible practices.

This year, 111 of our students assessed JSBE’s sustainability. As is customary, the evaluation was carried out by the students’ association Pörssi ry.

“Sincere thanks once again to them for this valuable work,” says Pesonen.

A record number of over 17,000 students worldwide participated in the Positive Impact Rating assessment this year. They represented 86 business schools across 28 different countries.
