The Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland TEK and Tekniska Föreningen i Finland TFiF has awarded the best master’s thesis of the year in mathematics, physics or computer science to Miika Manu from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Postdoctoral researcher Varpu Pärssinen has received over €200,000 from the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. She is investigating why the sperm of some animal species form larger conjugates.

Markus Kortelainen is new Professor of Theoretical Nuclear Structure Physics. In theoretical nuclear physics, researchers aim to understand the structure and reactions of atomic nuclei, as well as the fundamental interactions that govern them.

Ankita Naik prepared a series of binary organic radical ion salts and investigated their structure-property relationships for various applications. Her work paves the way for developing advanced memory devices, sensors for future technologies.

The University of Jyväskylä will lead the new Centre of Excellence in Quantum Materials. In addition, the University of Jyväskylä is participating in the Centre of Excellence in Neutron-Star Physics led by the University of Helsinki.
