Herpes virus aids in cancer treatment
Postdoctoral researcher Visa Ruokolainen has received €30,000 funding from the Sakari Alhopuro Foundation to study intranuclear processes of herpesvirus infected cells. The herpes simplex virus 1 is also used as an oncolytic viral drug to combat cancers.
