Osaamistavoitteet

After completing the course the student will be able to
- critically assess and synthesize how globalization impacts communication and language in the spaces of education, learning, community, work, and society
- effectively understand how to construct, apply, and adapt theories and concepts dealing with the impact of globalization in society, work, and community
- compare international, national, and local discourse, practices and strategies occurring due to globalization such as technology in learning and work, intercultural strategies for community relations and sociocultural impact on economic, political, and cultural discourse.

Seminars which include case study reports, assignments, and presentations.

This course examines language and communication within the context of globalization. Students develop knowledge and understanding of globalization theories and trends, and their impact on communication, language learning, education, and societal and cultural discourse and social practices.

Passing the course requires completion of all required assignments in line with stated learning outcomes. An 80% attendance requirement is applied.
