Project description

The Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body and Brain investigates music as a multimodal experience and a versatile agent of change throughout the lifespan. The research in this project is interdisciplinary and empirical, combining cognitive music and neuroscience, music therapy, psychology, educational science, and computer science – encompassing both fundamental and applied research.

The CoE MMBB explores how cognitive, emotional, physical, and interactive experiences of music evolve across a person's lifespan, how they manifest in various diseases and disorders, and how music-based interventions can be optimised to support learning and enhance emotional, cognitive, motor, and social well-being in everyday life as well as in educational and rehabilitation contexts. Additionally, the research delves into the individual, context-dependent, psychological, and neural mechanisms underlying these phenomena.
